Montgomery taught in Bideford in 1884-1885, at age 19, boarding with the mnister and his wife. The parsonage was restored by the local community to become a museum dedicated to their local shipbuilding industry, various parsons, and L. M. Montgomery’s stay.
Anne’s liniment cake mishap was based on an incident that took place in this house.
