“a rather shabby building set down in a wooded hollow, with spruce trees hooding it about on all sides” - Anne of Avonlea, ch. ii

The Avonlea Town Hall is where Anne and Diana attend the Debating Club concert and Gilbert recites “Bingen on the Rhine” in Anne of Green Gables. It is infamously painted blue in Anne of Avonlea.

The Avonlea Town Hall is based on the Cavendish Town Hall (which was never painted blue), where L. M. Montgomery often attended meetings of the Cavendish Literary Society. The building has since been demolished, but it is located along Route 6, across from the Baptist church.

Address: Route 6, Cavendish
