Anne of Avonlea
About the Book

First published in 1909 by L.C. Page Co.
I’d like to add some beauty to life… I’d love to make them have a pleasanter time because of me .. to have some little joy or happy thought that would never have existed if I hadn’t been born. - Anne of Avonlea ch.vii.
Anne of Avonlea, the sequel to Anne of Green Gables was written by demand almost immediately following the publication of Anne of Green Gables. The book follows Anne’s life for two years as she teaches at the Avonlea school, meets new neighbours, runs a village improvement society, and helps raise a pair of twins who have come to live at Green Gables.
