The Doctor’s Sweetheart and other stories
About the Book

Edited by Catherine McLay
First published in 1979 by McClelland and Stewart
The Doctor’s Sweetheart and Other Stories is a volume of 14 stories, collected and published by Catherine McLay. Published shortly after The Road to Yesterday, the editor expressed interest in bringing a selection of Montgomery’s lost stories back into print. The stories were originally published in various magazines and newspapers between 1899 - 1935, and are presented in chronological order as a wide sampling of stories “the general public who have been reading and enjoying Montgomery’s fiction for the past seventy years.” The stories deal with romance, and with childhood.[1]
One of the short stories, “I Know a Secret” was adapted into a film by Bruce Pittman in 1982. [2]
